Post Human
-
Post Human is a digital project that focuses on the consequences of global warming and the absence of humanity. In this project, I envision a world where humans are extinct, and nature reclaims the spaces we once called home. The Earth, driven by survival instincts, begins to reverse the damage we inflicted. Heat engulfs the planet, plants mutate and flourish becoming exaggerated and otherworldly, transforming the urban landscapes into a new form of urban jungle. Meanwhile, the technology we created continues to endure, capturing glimpses of this brand new world.
This project emerged as a personal desire to improve my knowledge Photoshop and image manipulation. Through experimenting I created these glitchy effects and saw the potential so created this small series of artworks.
The images of the homes were taken by a University of Brighton photography student (and used with permission) as soon as I saw them I knew they’d be perfect for this eerie but beautiful project. I had no intentions with this work but it did end up inspiring me to create my FMP on a similar subject but in an entirely different aesthetic, seeing the two go in such vastly different directions was really interesting and shows how many ways one topic can be perceived. One of my artworks from this was also used for an EP artwork for a local Brighton band and resulted in me creating further artworks for them, this was a. We venture for me and one I really enjoyed.
